The Palms Academy

Puppy in Training

Training

The Palms Pet Resort & Spa offers a wide variety of training classes for every age and experience level. Our training goal is to enhance your dog’s quality of life and strengthen the relationship you have with your dog. From our puppy classes that make training fun and introduce social skills to our basic manners classes, obedience training, scent work, tricks, leash training, and more. There’s a class for every canine!

Also available is our Board & Train option, which is personalized completely around your dog. While boarding, your dog gets multiple sessions a day with our trainer to kick start their skills or even work on some behavioral issues. At pickup, you will meet one on one with the trainer to go over what they have learned and to teach you how to practice these skills.

Our Trainers

Our trainers, Irma Bice (CPDT-KA), and Colleen Smith, have a vast knowledge of canine behavior and training. Each of our trainers has participated in various areas of Conformation, AKC Competitive Obedience, AKC Canine Good Citizen, CGC Evaluators, National Association of Treibball Enthusiast, and AKC Rally. Our training methods are fun, simple, and easy to understand. They are based on positive reinforcement, repetition, consistency, and reward. Our classes are small to give you and your dog the personal attention you deserve.

Behavior Modification

We also offer behavior modification and aggression consultations. We are members of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), and have served on the staff for the annual APDT conference. We understand the importance of continuing education.

Our trainers are always adding new and exciting classes. Refer to our complete, updated list of classes with descriptions, prices, and schedules.
